Another Lesson In College Readiness

Yesterday in Mr. L Washington class, we read an article that was about a teenager that was homeless, had a kid, and still graduate from her high school. She had a scholarship that gave us $80,000 dollars. I forgot what college she's going to but I heard that the college that she attended is really good school and one of the best school's. Then, we talked about how some people are given to things and don't use it in their advantage. So, nobody should have an excuse of not passing classes or graduating, because this women was homeless and had kid and nothing stop her! It didn't stop her to get her education, it didn't stop her to go to school either. Her determination and hard working ethic made her to become successful. When I read this article, it gave me a perspective and a goal when I leave high school. When I go to college I don't want to be a drop out or lazy on my work. I want to go hard in every class that I'm taking in college, because I know their are many people that are going harder than other people. I know I'm going to be distracted in college but I hope even tho I can be distracted, I can still do my work. Reading this article should give everyone a perspective about themselves because It's sad how this teenager had nothing, but still conquer her goals to be educated. I'm proud of her! Hopefully that can be me. I just have to put in the extra effort, but I know I can.

Fingerprinting in Forensic

Today in Ms. Baltori class we were doing "Fingerprints" and to find characteristics in our fingerprints. At frist, it was fun doing it and pressing our fingerprints to see how it looks from others. It felt like when I was a young boy in pre-k doing finger painting. It mignt sound dumb and weird, but it was something about fingerprinting in class got me remembering that moment as a kid.

Anyways, it was fun at first but then it was getting annoying! Everytime I brung my fingerprints to Ms. Baltori she would always say "that's wrong!", "that's not right!", "too much ink!", "too beachy!" Like my finger was not cooperating when I was trying to get my fingerprint on the paper. But then I finally got it! It took my 6 or 7 times to ONE of my fingerprint done .. Which is my thumb. *sigh* 1 down 9 more to go. Hopefully I can get all of them.

The Movie: The Admission

Today in Mr. L Washington class we watched a movie called "The Admission." This movie is related to getting in to college and shows how real and how hard it is to get to college. It shows no matter where you live, what's your background, or whatever you can get into any college you choose to. This movie showed me & taught me that "I should never give up! And always strive for success and go hard for my education." Honestly, I am ready to go to college and to show how everyone what I got. I love going to this class because Mr. L Washington is always telling us about "College" and "How to deal and what to do in College." I appreciate the advice and the preparation before going to college. I am INSPIRED!

Money Saving In College Readiness (FC)

In college readiness Mr. L Washington he talk to us about "money saving" and "how to save money? " It was really interested because you really have to be careful on what you spending on when your off to College or living on your own. He gave us example; when now a days people spend their money on Jordan's, rather than they student loans or even rent for their house. Its crazy how all the sneakers people buy in my class they could save their money and put it into a bank account. I have to think about all the sneakers I brought throughout my life and I probably spent over $2,000 or $3,000 worth of sneakers and most sneakers I really didn't need, but I got them. After the class was over Mr. L Washington is really the only educated, successful, and black man I met in my life. Hopefully, that can be me one day.

University of Oklahoma (FC)

In college readiness we was talking about how in the article University of Oklahoma a group called "Segima Alpha Epsilon" two of the memebers was calling a rasicm chant about people of colored. I'm happy that the memebers was suspended & the organization was shutdown. Also, Waka Flocka Flame (rapper) choose not performed there at the school, because he felt disgusted & disrespected from seeing the video. I surely agreed, with the suspension & shutdown because they would of done the same thing to us if we ever did something wrong.

ID

Today, in "College Readiness" we have to watch a movie called "Higher Learning." The movie was interesting, funny, but also it shows life lessons while going to college. Mr. L. Washington was talking to the class about "how college life you would go through different types of obstacles, but you have to stay mental strong." He was saying this, because he was referring to the movie. I agree with him and also its true. Most people in college, are not mentally strong and are most likely to drop out. Which is true also, because right after he said that one of the main characters dropped out of college.

It's sad how people drop out of college or any school just because "they not ready" or "they can't do it." It's no such thing as that! No matter what, you should always do the best and never give up. Your not going to be anything in life, if you just give up on everything you do. But watching that movie taught me some lessons about college and about my life too. We still didn't finished the movie, but I'm willingly to watch it and finish it.
