My Passion (Dancing & Basketball)

What am I passion about? To have passion about something it has to be something that you love to do and love doing it no matter what! Also, if you're passion about something you have to be dedicated about it. So my passion is basketball, but dancing. When I was little I always love to dance. It was something about dancing that kept me dancing everywhere I go, It built confidence for me, because I was always shy and didn't want to do things that involved meeting people or performing in front of crowds. Nobody wanted me to dance or advised me to dance, I just seen on of my classmate doing it. So I wanted to try. It was very nerve racking seeing everyone dancing with their fancy moves and dance skills. The first time I ever danced when I join a "dance crew." I had to danced my way inside the crew and so did other people was trying to join. It was attention in the air, sweat, flips. All different type of dances, I thought I couldn't make but I still tried. I wasn't giving up! So...I made the dance crew! I was so happy and excited that I started to dance again. I practice everyday, day and day out, when I was sick or when I was just in the house alone. I was dancing in my dreams. One day when had to perform in front of my school, but this wasn't no regular performance...This performance was going to be recorded and uploaded on YouTube. Now we all know YouTube is a billion dollar company that everyone in the world uploads all different kind of videos and hearing that I might be on YouTube was very nervous. That means everything has to be on point! every moment, the sequences, flips, and showing emotions to give the crowd more interested. Their can't be no mistakes! We did good and seeing the video on YouTube was awesome! It was an huge success and that why I still love to danced. Now anything that I'm passion about is Basketball.

Now I never heard, played basketball, or even touched a ball before until the 7th grade and I was convinced and inspired by my good old friend Najee Vargas. Najee convinced me and inspired me to play, because at first I wasn't good at all. No really! I was so horrible that I couldn't make a layup. But seeing Najee play was kind of inspiring. He was so good and he can really play, so everyday I pick up a ball or go to parks to play ball with others. My goal was to "better than Najee in basketball." The first thing that I actually was getting good at basketball was playing defense. I was the only one that would step up to the plate and guard the best player on the opponent's team and I would always do go defensively, but offensively. It took me years to become the person that I am now. But hard works pays off! I made it to my first basketball team, played my first game, scored my first bucket, and finally go up to Najee level. This what I am passion about and I would never give up doing it even when times get rough. I'll always pull myself back up and keep going at it. At the end of the day, nobody got you expect for yourself.

What Happen In Class ..

Today in class was pretty good. At first, it was boring, but then it got kind of interesting. The beginning of class we had a reading test. Which I didn't get to read about. I was doing all my work over the 3 days we was out. So, I didn't have no time of reading this book, but that's no excuse I still got to do this test. I failed...Of course, but that still didn't let me stop doing my work. Me and my classmates had to do a "Socratic Seminar" and the crazy thing about it I just did a Socratic Seminar last period in Government. So this is very ironic. The topic of the seminar was about teens & social media. We was going to watch a video that went viral all throughout social media, but we didn't get watch it. It hasn't been 2 seconds into the video and everyone just started to scream and yell "OH I SEEN THAT VIDEO!" or "I SEEN IT! I SEEN IT!" After that they had to cut it off. It was pretty funny at first, but most people didn't get to see the video, so that sucks. Then, we have to make up questions base on the video that we never seen, but we all had an idea about what the video was about. During the Socratic Seminar there were very interesting questions about the video. One question I heard was "why do teens think social media is so important to them?" I can answered this myself. Teens think this way is because maybe they are stuck in between two worlds. What I mean is that they are stuck between the "virtual" world and "reality." Some people can go without a day or a week on their phone, because most teens are on Facebook, Kik, and specially Instagram. All of these popular social media websites are very addicting and also it will get in the way of people lives and also, it can change people perspective. Today was a good day in class, expect the annoying teacher that was always down my back by getting of task just for one second, but in all today in class was interesting and positive...for the first time.

Hello There & Welcome!

For the people who is reading this...Hello! And welcome to Shooting For La(star). As you can see, my name is Lastar. I am an 18 year old teenager who loves sports, hanging out with friends or family, love to dress to impress, outgoing and silly person. Most people don't believe my name is "Lastar". I find that funny, because I heard some many names in my life just because my name don't match with my figure. Most people said I look like a Brandon, but I don't think so. Also, most people actually like my name. They think it's cool, unique, funny, weird, and specially cute. I'm not trying to sound conceited, but it is truly cute. Another about myself, a lot of people will never believe that I'm 18. I agree! Most people think when your older, you look older. But to me...No, I'm not that type of person. I actually look younger. Some people think I was 17, !6, even 18. I even heard that I look like I'm 12 years old. Now there taking it too far. I have been playing sports in a young age, I played soccer, track, football, & basketball. I also did dancing, theater, and even singing in a choir. I had a very busy life as a little kid, like I was so activated, always on the move and always try to find something new. I think I did all of these is probably my mom didn't want me on the streets or even home all day doing nothing. She always wanted me occupied & doing different activities. Out of all the sports I have played I actually enjoyed all of them! But mostly I enjoyed and got a passion with it was dancing, singing, and basketball. I took those three serious everyday I go. It might sound corny, but when I was singing in the choir I use to sing to only the girls that I like or wanted to good out with, mind you I was in 5th or 6th grade doing this. Most boys wouldn't even do it because their scared, nervous, or even terrible because they think the girl wouldn't find it cute or just think "maybe she don't like me." Every boy was saying that, but I was like that too. They wasn't the only, but I actually find confidence in myself and courage to do it. So, I liked one girl inside my class and when we was in the schoolyard for recess I got her alone and sung to her and at the end I asked her out. She was excited so of course she said "yes!" It was the most exciting thing I ever did in my life when I was a little kid.
